As a Senior Contracts Counsel, you’ll be the driving force behind reviewing, drafting, and negotiating supplier agreements for our Global Procurement department. Your primary focus will be on US-based suppliers and transactions, but your influence will span the globe as you engage in negotiations in the technology sector, data privacy, and service categories. You’ll be a vital link in our Experian Procurement team, working together with our legal team, Regional Procurement Heads, buyers, and the Chief Procurement Officer. Reporting to the Global Head of Vendor Contracts based in the US, you’ll be part of a close-knit team that spans continents, collaborating with legal colleagues in the US, UK, Spanish LATAM, EMEA, and APAC. This role is a thrilling tightrope walk, balancing risk with business necessities, enabling us to negotiate and seal supplier agreements. You’ll be the key player orchestrating this dynamic interplay of speed and security, ensuring our business maintains its momentum while our customers, consumers, and Experian stay safeguarded. What you’ll be doing Negotiation : Exhibit strong negotiation skills across various contract types, including technology (generative AI, software, cloud solutions, hardware, colocation, etc.), professional services, outsourcing, marketing, facilities, and data. Promptly review and negotiate contracts, manage stakeholder expectations, and maintain high customer service standards. Fast-Paced Environment : Thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing approximately 30 ongoing contracts. This requires quick work, prioritization, and the ability to shift gears swiftly. Collaboration : Collaborate with internal departments (tax, finance, security, compliance, etc.) to ensure the company’s protection. Manage internal stakeholders at all levels. Liaison : Liaise with specialist in-house lawyers and other regulatory functions on matters such as data protection. Documentation : Draft, update, and maintain contract templates, playbooks, and internal procedures. Legal Monitoring : Monitor changes to local, national, and international laws and make appropriate recommendations. Qualifications What your background looks like Education and Experience : Juris Doctor with an active license in at least one jurisdiction, with 10+ years of supplier contract-related counseling, preferably in a large corporation or law firm. Expertise : Solid experience in drafting, negotiating, and advising on a range of commercial contracts in an IT setting and providing advice on commercial law issues. Knowledge in data protection, intellectual property, and international contracts would be advantageous. Knowledge : Strong understanding of supplier contract terms, related legislation such as privacy, information technology, information governance, and data management systems. Communication Skills : Ability to interact and communicate effectively with people at all organizational levels, both orally and in writing, consistent with communication best practices. Professionalism : Demonstrated ability to negotiate agreements while maintaining a high level of integrity and professionalism. Adaptability : Experience in a diverse, global environment with changing priorities. Demonstrated flexibility and agility to respond to changing business needs. Organizational Skills : Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to manage time well, prioritize effectively, and handle multiple deadlines.
